Jets-Panthers spread comes down a full point

The spread for the Week 1 matchup between the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers took a big turn. Carolina's spread has been bet down from -5.5 to -4.5, per BettingPros consensus odds.

Betting Impact:

This line movement is curious considering the spread opened at Carolina -5, and its first movement was up to -5.5. There is not significant injury news to warrant such a line move. Carolina will be without starting right guard John Miller after he tested positive for COVID-19. He will potentially be replaced by Dennis Daley, who started 12 games over the last two seasons. Other than that, Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton (concussion) was cleared to play, and wide receiver Jamison Crowder remains on the COVID-19 list with a chance to play. Thus, the only real explanation for this line movement other than Carolina's one loss on the offensive line is a bunch of early money being bet on the Jets.
