Per Lindsey Thiry’s article on ESPN, the Los Angeles Rams will start Jared Goff at quarterback on Saturday against the Green Bay Packers. Last week’s starter John Wolford has been ruled out with a neck injury, so Goff’s backup will be Blake Bortles. (Lindsey Thiry)

Betting Impact:

The Rams remained as 6.5-point road underdogs against the Packers, per BettingPros consensus odds. The fact that the spread remained the same after this news was released suggests that oddsmakers already built in the likelihood of Goff starting to their initial lines. This game should be a much more heavily bet game than the Rams-Seahawks game was a week ago considering we have much more clarity on the quarterback situation this time around. In addition, the Packers are one of the most public teams in the league which is another reason we were likely to see higher volume. It will be interesting to see if the weather in Green Bay affects Goff’s play. Goff has played in one game in his career at temperatures below 30 degrees, which was a Sunday night game in Chicago in 2018. In that game, Goff threw four interceptions and had the worst quarterback rating in any game of his career.
