49ers-Lions total ticks down a half point

The over/under for the Week 1 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions has ticked down from 45.5 to 45, per BettingPros consensus odds.

Betting Impact:

It is interesting to see what San Francisco's plans for quarterback will be for Week 1, as they have toyed with the idea of using rookie Trey Lance in some packages but giving Jimmy Garoppolo the majority of the snaps. However, Lance is dealing with a chip in his finger which forced him to sit out of practice last week. Thus, bettors may be responding to the fact that San Francisco's offense may not be as difficult to gameplan for if they have to deal with Garoppolo primarily instead of worrying about Lance as well. The other big injury to monitor is Lions running back D'Andre Swift, who is dealing with a groin injury. If Swift is ultimately cleared before kickoff, the total is sure to rise some.
