49ers-Eagles spread ticks down to reach key number

The San Francisco 49ers opened as -3.5 point favorites for their Week 2 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, but have since been bet down to -3, per BettingPros consensus odds.

Betting Impact:

For oddsmakers to be compelled to move this line down to the key number of three, they must be seeing a lot of support, or at least respected money, on the underdog Eagles. It would be interesting to see how the betting action would've played out if San Francisco did not blow a big lead late last week. When it seemed they were cruising to an easy victory, the Lions trimmed San Francisco's lead from 41-17 to 41-33, and had a great opportunity at a game-tying drive late. That perception that San Francisco did not finish strong, as well as an injury to Raheem Mostert leaving them thin at running back, likely contributed to the love for the Eagles.
