Notre Dame-Virginia Spread Stays Still

The Notre Dame-Virginia spread remains Notre Dame -5.5 as of Friday afternoon. (BettingPros Consensus Odds)

Betting Impact:

This line hasn't budged at all throughout the week, and there's a big reason why: Virginia's starting quarterback might not play. Brennan Armstrong is dealing with an injury to his ribs, and his status won't be known until closer to kickoff. Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall is playing this awfully close to the vest. And he has a lot to weigh in this decision. While Armstrong gives Virginia's high-powered offense a great chance of competing with the one-loss Irish, the Cavaliers are only a game out of first place in the ACC Coastal division and play first-place Pittsburgh next week in a game that will decide the division. If I had to guess, I suspect the Cavs will play it safe with Armstrong, which means anyone looking to bet on Notre Dame might be best set to do it sooner than later.
